Professional – I’ve been a full time commercial photographer since 1991 and started transitioning into video in 2011. I love what I do as a commercial photographer and really enjoy the ability to create video and still campaigns that are cohesive in lighting and feel.

I partnered with two other photographers to create the Optic Lizard production company. We’re able to bring a vast amount of experience in a smaller crew, making productions easier to manage and most times, easier on the budget.  We go deep below the surface to spark genuine emotion and inspire meaningful action. We’re nimble, fun and focused. We put our heart and soul into every project, doing whatever it takes to be a positive influence for your brand — and to leave a meaningful and lasting mark on the world through beautiful imagery. 

I served as national president of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP a national trade association) and have been to China twice, where I taught 4 weeks of environmental portrait lighting to Xinghua photo-journalists. I won a national Addy and my work has been exhibited in the Nikon Gallery.  I absolutely love black and white photography. I once did a personal project where I photographed environmental portraits for 30 consecutive days, shooting over 16,000 images.

Personal – I’m married and have a great life! We have two kids who are doing incredibly well as adults who live in Washington and Montana that we visit every chance we can. We love to hike and have adventures as often as possible.

I’ve been to some incredible places and done some amazing things, like biking Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park and rafting the New River in West Virginia. I’ve ridden my motorcycle cross country to Sturgis SD for Bike Week. We’ve been wine tasting in Napa a few times and we had the Big Band from the battleship Missouri (18 piece band on the Mighty MO from the Korean conflict era) play at our wedding, our tenth and twentieth anniversaries.

I have a Weiner dog named Sophie and built additions onto our house, including my 1500 sq ft studio.  I take great pride in building, making and repairing things. There isn’t much I won’t take on.   I’ve done a lot, but I’m most proud of marrying my best friend. It’s the best thing I ever did.
